The 16th Meeting of the Airport Subgroup of the Aviation Working Group of the Sino-British Joint Economic and Trade
Commission held in London, UK.
From October 16 to 19, 2024, the 16th Meeting of the Airport Subgroup of the Aviation Working Group of the Sino-British Joint Economic and Trade Commission (JETC) was held in London, UK. At the meeting, mainly discussed and exchanged with relevant units of the British side were aviation training, airport policy/regulatory policy, airport user consultative committees, airport emergency management, airport efficiency optimization, etc. The CCAA and the United Kingdom Department of Trade and Industry (DETI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on cooperation on issues of airport management skills training for middle and senior managers of China’s airports.
Mr. Zhang Yanfeng, Director of Safety Department of Airport Division, CCAA, and Ms. Wang Ruiping, CCAA Chairman, led a delegation of a total of 20 delegates from 13 units, including North China Bureau, Aviation Academy, Management and Administration Institute, Capital Airport Group, Guangdong Airport Group, Chongqing Airport Group, Hubei Airport Group, Western Airport Group, Capital Airport Company, Shanghai Pudong International Airport, and Flying Friends Technology, to attend the meeting. Also attended the meeting were more than 100 delegates from more than ten government departments, associations, colleges and enterprises, including DETI, Department for Transport, British Embassy in China, Consulate General in Chongqing, London Gatwick Airport, London Stansted Airport, London City Airport, Manchester Metropolitan University, Lincoln College, Cardiff Public Schools, Manpower First International, Menzies Aviation Limited (ground agent), British Airways Contingency Planning Committee, Blake Emergency Services, and British Aerospace Group.
To publicize the high quality development status of China’s airports and enhance the communication between Chinese and British enterprises, the conference specially arranged the introduction of China’s airport industry and the exchange session with member enterprises of the British Airways Group, to share the best practices of airport construction and operation and the application of new airport technologies of the two sides. As the specific implementation unit of the Airports Subgroup of the Aviation Working Group of the Chinese and British sides, Ms. Wang Ruiping, CCAA Chairman, led part of the delegation to participate in the activities of the Members’ Day of the British Airways Group and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on behalf of the two sides with Mr. David Scott, Secretary General of British Airways Group with the aim to define the direction of the work of the Airport Group and to strengthen the areas of cooperation in the future.
During the meeting, the delegation discussed Gatwick Airport’s efficiency optimization and visited the Gatwick Airport fire drill.
It is agreed that the 17th Meeting of the Airport Subgroup of the Aviation Working Group of the Sino-British Joint Economic and Trade Commission will be held in China in 2025.
